The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and implementing various environmental compliance programs, conducting training sessions, completing regulatory reports, applying for environmental permits, and supporting remediation, construction, and demolition projects. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining compliance and training records, investigating environmental-related incidents, and monitoring environmental regulations. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will also develop and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to support EHS programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of relevant experience and have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or a similar discipline.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct environmental training sessions for programs such as SPCC, Storm Water, Air Compliance, and ISO 14001
Perform Certified Visible Emission readings
Support remediation, construction, and demolition projects
Participate in site EHS audits
Complete regulatory reporting such as SARA Tier II and TRI reports
Develop and implement various environmental compliance programs such as SPCC and SWPPP
Collect environmental samples, review and communicate results
Develop and maintain current knowledge of environmental regulations
Monitor compliance and training records
Assist with the implementation of environmental and safety policies and regulations
Apply for environmental permits, including Air Permits, Groundwater Discharge Permits, and NPDES Permits
Investigate environmental-related incidents, conduct root causes, and coordinate the implementation of corrective actions
Develop and maintain positive relations with internal and external stakeholders to support EHS programs and initiatives
Assist with special projects and other duties assigned by the manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to interface with various levels of employees and customers
Ability to work with minimal supervision
3-5 years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or a similar discipline.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, valid driver's license with a good driving record
Ability to travel by ground and air
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both individual and group settings
Knowledge of EPA and state environmental regulations
