Financial Controller

Responsibilities

This position will manage the accounting team to support sales, production, and engineering regarding the financial performance of the company. While reporting to the VP of Finance the position is directly responsible and accountable for the following but not limited to:

  • Review month-end closing journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure that the monthly, half-year and annual segmented financial statements are completed timely and accurately.
  • Analyze operating results and suggest corrective actions for performance variances, leading and lagging indicators, and risks to the board. 
  • Maintain a monthly reporting package to senior management covering key financial metrics and performance against budgets/forecasts.
  • Work closely with the finance team and cross-function teams to prepare and propose segmented monthly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plans.
  • Make recommendations to reduce costs and manage cash flows.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, and local policy, government statutes, and ethical practices.
  • Manage internal and external financial and tax audits.
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial scorecards, analytical tools (graph and charts), business modeling, and financial planning processes.
  • Serve as a system administrator role related to accounting and finance-related software.
  • Manage and develop the current accounting staff.
  • Review the bi-weekly payroll to ensure it is completed timely and accurately.
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as directed or projects as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ experience in a relevant accounting position.
  • 2+ years of prior month-end processing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, experience with IFRS a plus.
  • BS in accounting or finance required.  MBA and /or CPA a plus.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • High level of integrity and ethics.
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.
  • Sage 100 ERP experience a plus.
  • Experience with modern, integrated ERP and ERP migration experience a plus.
