Sr. Systems Engineer

Reports to: IT Manager

Manages: No team members

OVERVIEW

This person is passionate about technology, a problem solver, an information and technology architect. Has the ability to work with senior business minds to help them articulate their problem and find solutions that engage their clients in a creative breakthrough that is compelling.  Supports clients and internal IT while delivering exceptional customer service throughout the process.  Work to troubleshoot and restore technical service and equipment problems by analyzing, identifying and diagnosing issues.  Will design, install and support IT solutions for our clients.  Work on a number of projects in all stages of the development life cycle including experience in uncovering requirements, conceptualizing solutions, and developing a framework for implementation of systems.  Must have board knowledge on current technology solutions, a high degree of leadership skills, general business knowledge to evaluate ROI for clients, a high degree of personal relationship skills, and be a highly motivated and goal oriented individual. This is a hands-on position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in regards to industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Define the solution framework around which the client’s needs are being met both from a hardware and software direction.
  • Listen, ask questions, hear, prioritize, and translate the client situation, needs, and goals into clear strategic concepts and requirements to develop technology solutions.
  • Work collaboratively to resolve any high level functional issues with the client and Springthrough’s internal teams.
  • Help develop project estimations on tasks, time frames, and budgets with the project management team as well as tracking and maintain all records and metrics to report the projects progress to management and clients.
  • Recommend IT solutions to problems and provide design options on a multi-platform/multi-protocol environment.
  • Ensure that all firms’ practices, policies, and procedures are in compliance with technologies standard best practices.
  • Participate with the sales team in engaging with clients on possible solution directions, gather requirements, estimations on tasks and time frames, and the creation of proposals.
  • An essential resource for both pre-sales and post-sales implementation driving client satisfaction and agency standards.
  • Develop and deliver complex technical presentations and demonstrations to build the trust and relationship of the client.
  • Provide strategic planning of our prospective clients while engaging with their executive team to meet their technical needs.
  • Work collaboratively and build long term relationships with clients, consultants, and third-party vendors.
  • Provide continuity in all major application solution decisions.
  • Training and assisting in mentoring staff members to help grow and build the teams skillsets.
  • Installing and maintaining hardware including, but not limited to:
    • System integration
    • Enterprise storage technologies (SAN, disk arrays)
    • Server hardware
    • Desktop or mobile hardware
    • Network components (routers, switches)
    • Firewalls and other security appliances
    • Wireless network devices
    • Peripherals
  • Installing, integrating and maintaining various software components including, but not limited to:
    • Microsoft server operating systems and servers
    • Microsoft desktop operating systems
    • Microsoft active directory services
    • Virtualization technologies (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V)
    • Application virtualization technologies (Vdi, RDS)
    • Enterprise anti-virus software
    • Enterprise backup software
  • Install and maintain servers in a network infrastructure; including email servers (Microsoft Exchange), SQL servers, web servers, anti-virus servers, network switches and firewalls, both internally and externally for our client base.
  • Disaster recovery design and implementation.
  • Proficient in cloud and datacenter technologies design and implementation, primarly Microsoft Azure and Office 365 platform and services (Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive..
  • Effectively communicate both written and verbally to team and client status of tickets and support efforts/resolutions in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned tasks.
  • Support line-of-business applications.
  • After hours support as needed.

  • Discipline to diagnose issues where no experience or knowledge is present and extensive research is required.
  • Proficient at administering Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Microsoft Exchange, networking technologies (ie: TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, Firewalls), administering Microsoft Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects (GPO).
  • Experience in both server and desktop hardware is required.
  • In depth understanding of Microsoft technologies.
  • Minimum billable hours requirement: 30/week
  • 7+ years of experience is preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Microsoft MCSA, MCSE, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA and/or other related certifications desired
